How the Two-Party System Suffers from Extremes
Democrat or Republican? Conservative or Liberal? Isn’t it strange that in a country where you’re offered so many different choices in your day-to-day life, you have only two “realistic” political options? It doesn’t make sense that you can go to the grocery store and have your pick of a dozen different kinds of peanut butter, yet you’re limited to a choice between two very different parties once you enter the voting booth. Wouldn’t it be great if you had the option to vote for a moderate political party that didn’t force you to side with one extreme or another?
When the only two major parties in our country reside on polar opposites of the political spectrum, it makes compromise and the achievement of vital societal goals nearly impossible. Additionally, it becomes very difficult for people to find a real connection to a political party that completely aligns with their personal beliefs.
Staunch Moderates is a moderate political party that believes in the philosophy of addressing each other and strangers from a perspective of thoughtful moderation instead of selfish extremism. In doing so, we can come together as a nation and find common ground. This will allow us to identify and move forward on initiatives that have the broad support of the people. Rather than being forced to put up with two political extremes engaged in perpetual gridlock, we’d actually be able to get things done for the American people.
